Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please get in touch with Deon to enquire about your wedding or event. To proceed with securing your booking, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit and will get you to fill in a booking form.

In the case that you need to reschedule your wedding for any reason, the deposit can be transferred to the new date if I am available on the date. However, if I am unavailable on your new date, it will be treated as a cancellation.

  • Is the harp an option for my event?

Deon has two harps which can be used for your event. The first option is a Concert Grand, measuring 190cm tall and weighing 40kg. This harp cannot be carried up flights of steps. A wheelchair access or elevator is required. There are some venues where this harp is not available as an option. The other harp, an Odgen, is more portable. Please check with Deon for more information.

    Can you perform outdoors?

For outdoor events, the harp would require shelter (umbrella, gazebo, verandah etc). Level and dry ground is also important. A wet weather plan is recommended for all outdoor events as the harp cannot get wet

  • How do the timings for the bridal entry/ signing work?

Deon watches what is happening during the ceremony very closely. She will tie the music up as you arrive at the altar/ finish signing the register and give some extra time for photos to ensure that there are no awkward silences. This is the beauty of live music! The harp is usually positioned on the stage left, this ensures that Deon can see what is happening during the ceremony and time the music perfectly.

Do I pick only one piece for the bridal entry?

Deon recommends having one piece as the intro and verse will be for your flower girls/ page boys/ bridesmaids and the chorus will be for your entrance. Deon’s personal advice is that two pieces feel abrupt, even for a larger bridal party.

Do we need to choose all the prelude & postlude music as guests are entering & exiting?

Deon will perform a selection of music at her discretion, entrust her to select music to suit the ambience. Feel free to let Deon know if there is a particular style or theme. If you would like to pick particular pieces, there might be an additional charge.

    How do song requests work?

Deon is happy to accommodate up to three song requests, included in the fee. For weddings, this is usually used for the entry, signing and exit. The pieces need not be from her repertoire list.

For song requests on the harp:

The harp can play a diverse range of music, but not every piece will work and Deon is happy to advise. Please submit a request form at least 4 weeks before your event.
